Ingredients
- 5 medium/large Granny Smith and Macoun apples
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4–1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Homemade pie crust or biscuit dough
Instructions
- Prepare the apple filling by peeling, coring, and slicing apples. Cook with butter, sugars, lemon juice, cornstarch, cinnamon until slightly softened. Cool.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into circles.
- Place a tablespoon of cooled filling in each circle, fold over to seal, and crimp edges.
- Fry in hot oil (350°F) until golden brown on both sides (2-3 minutes).
- Drain on paper towels and enjoy warm.
