- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 4 egg yolks
- 2 tbsp cornstarch (for custard)
- 600 ml milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 50 g granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tsp vanilla bean paste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Peel and slice apples thinly. Toss with sugar, salt, and cornstarch.
- Spread apple mixture in a baking dish and bake for about 40 minutes until tender. Allow them to cool slightly.
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and salt until smooth. Heat milk until just below boiling, then gradually mix it into the egg mixture.
- Return the mixture to heat and stir continuously until thickened.
- Layer baked apples and custard in a serving dish or individual glasses. Chill if desired before serving.
