- 1 cup cold unsalted butter (226g) for laminating
- 1 large egg (beaten) for finishing

Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Stir in yeast.
- Add lukewarm milk and melted butter; mix until shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough until smooth (about 5 minutes).
- Shape into a ball, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
- Roll cold butter into a square; chill until firm.
- Roll out risen dough into a square; enclose the butter block.
- Gradually laminate the dough through rolling and chilling.
- Cut triangles from rolled dough and shape croissants.
- Let croissants rise on a baking sheet for about an hour.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C); brush croissants with egg mixture and bake for 20–25 minutes.
