  • 1 tbsp crushed chili flakes
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil (vegetable or sesame)
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 cups water
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine with 2 cups of water and a pinch of salt in a pot. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes until fluffy.
  2. Heat cooking oil in a wok or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and sauté briefly until fragrant.
  3. Add diced chicken to the pan and cook until golden brown on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in chopped onion and bell pepper strips; cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender yet crisp.
  5. Toss in soy sauce, oyster sauce (or alternative), crushed chili flakes, and black pepper; mix well until heated through.
