  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional for sweetness)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the sliced flank steak by mixing soy sauce, oyster sauce, apple vinegar, cornstarch, and baking soda in a bowl. Let sit while preparing other ingredients.
  2. Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat and add vegetable oil until shimmering.
  3. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the hot oil, stir-frying for about 30 seconds.
  4. Quickly add the marinated beef to the wok, stir-frying for 2-3 minutes until browned but tender; then set aside.
  5. In the same wok, stir-fry sliced onions for 3-4 minutes until soft and caramelized.
  6. Return the beef to the wok along with any marinade left; mix well and heat through.
