Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round baking pans.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add egg whites one at a time, then mix in the whole egg.
- Stir in the whole milk, strawberry gelatin powder, and vanilla until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the sifted flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just mixed.
- Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
- For frosting: Beat softened butter with heavy cream until fluffy. Gradually add confectioners’ sugar, then stir in vanilla extract and salt.
